Low- Cost Immigration Assistance
The Center for Immigration Law & Practice (CILP) provides newcomers to the United States with legal counsel for immigration-related matters. Through asylum and family reunification assistance, CILP works to promote strong communities, cohesive families, and responsible citizenship.
Training in Ethical Immigration Practice
CILP has partnered with the University of District Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law to provide students with clinical training in immigration law and policy in order to educate ethical and skillful immigration advocates.
Outreach to Communities of Faith
The Center was originally established by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) to provide congregation-based legal services. In this tradition, CILP continues to work with clergy and congregations to meet the needs of immigrant communities and promote awareness of immigration-related issues.
